What does it cost? |
| |
| |
|
The annual membership fee is $30.
Each Reserved Name Link has an annual fee of $5. Reserved name links often get twice the clicks as standard links. When you buy a reserved name, you own that name and no one else can use it.
Using our service you should more than pay for this service by eliminating the loss of commissions you now unknowingly suffer. Estimates have shown that as many as 30% of affiliate links are truncated. The real benefit of our service is the knowledge that you will gain about your advertising performance. You will learn what ads work best, the best place to advertise and the best time to advertise. One commission of $30 could pay for an entire year of our service. |

If I have reserved a name link with a tracking code, and I want to add another tracking code for the same reserved name, do I have to pay an additional $5 per year? |
| |
| |
|
Yes. Even though you are just adding a tracking code, we still have to add a new link to the database so the clicks can be counted separately. Note that you can recycle your tracking codes. You may use the Edit function to change the tracking code for a reserved name at any time. For example, say you were selling cars through Ebay using "EbayMotors" as your tracking code. You then stop selling on Ebay and are now selling at AutoByTel. You could change your tracking code from "EbayMotors" to "AutoByTel" with no additional charges. |

|
Why don't I just get my own domain name and do the translation myself? |
| |
| |
|
That is certainly an option, however, there are other things that this implies:
You understand how to program this process
You must pay for and manage the domains
You must host the domains and pay monthly fees
You must manage the website
You must do your own tracking or decipher your host's web logs
It will cost you more money, effort and time that you could be using to make more money!

I have signed up for my membership but I am unable to log into GoToProduct.com, what is the problem? |
| |
| |
|
Most likely, your account has not been activated. When you signed up and made your payment, we sent an activation email to the email address you entered for your membership. There is a link in this email, that will activate your account. After you click this link, your membership is activated and you will be taken to the GoToProduct Home page ready to login on the left side of the screen. Your email address should already be in the top login box. Just enter your password and you will be taken to the control panel to set up you first link.
If you did not receive your activation email, there may have been a problem with your payment, an email server error, or your email provider has filtered out you activation email. If this does not resolve your issue, send an email to our Customer Support with the details and they will get the problem resolved. |

What problem does GoToProduct solve? |
| |
| |
|
Regular affiliate links are typically very long and unreadable. Some users are confused by these links and will refuse to click on them since they do not understand what they mean.
Users who are more knowledgeable about the web and understand links, also know that most affiliate links contain an identifier of the affiliate who will get a commission on any sale as a result of the user clicking on the link. This action completes a required process or purchase. Many of these users do not like to reward people they do not know or think that they may be able to become an affiliate and get discount on their own purchase. These users will strip off the identifier and just paste the remaining link into the browser to go to the site.
With GoToProduct, the user sees a link they can understand, and one that has a specific meaning. The website is not exposed, so the user can not strip off the identifier and go to the site. If the user strips off the identifier, the link will not function. If a reserved name is used, the link has even more meaning for the user. i.e.
GoToProduct.info?id=lottery
|

|
Is there a way to suspend the use of a link? |
| |
| |
|
Yes. Using our Control Panel, you can change the startdate for a link to some time in the future. The link will go live when that date is reached, or you can go back and change the date to activate the link immediately.
When a link is not active and someone clicks on your disabled link, the user will not be relayed and will remain on the same page. |
| |
| 7 |
|
Will the user know when they are being redirected when they click on the Gotoproduct.info link? |
| |
| |
|
No, the next page they will see will be your affiliate page or target page. |
| |
| 8 |
|
Will the user see my affiliate link when they arrive at the affiliate site? |
| |
| |
|
This depends upon the programming of the affiliate site. Some of these sites will strip off your id before their page is displayed.
This should not matter as far as your commissions are concerned, since you will have arrived at the site with YOUR id attached. You will receive any credit for any commissions paid. |
| |

|
Why would I need a Tracking Code? |
| |
| |
|
A Tracking Code is an additional identifier you can assign to your links. You can and should use a tracking code on all of your links, especially if you run the same ad in more than one location. You can then use the tracking code to identify the location. You can also use the tracking code to identify different versions of ads to see which ad works the best. Since reserved name links are a single ID that can be used in many places, it makes it more difficult to determine where the user clicked on your link. By adding a different Tracking Code for each placement of your link, you will be able to track these sources. |

|
Is it true that I can replace the parameter names, id= and tc= with something else in my GoToProduct.info?id=xx&tc=yy links? |
| |
| |
|
Yes. You may use any names you wish, as long as your names are not reserved for use by HTML entities. HTML entities are used to encode URL parameters. For instance, a quote would be changed to an & followed by the name quot, pound sterling changes to an & followed by the word pound, and cent is changed to an & followed by the word cent. If you used these or any of the other entities, you would have a problem.
If you are careful, you can use this to make your links even more descriptive to the user and further entice them to click. A good example is:
GoToProduct.info?car=Ford&Model=Mustang GT Convertible&Color=Red
The "Color" parameter will be ignored. GoToProduct.info always uses the first parameter as the reserved name and the second as a tracking code.
Important If you use a second parameter, you must have this parameter defined with your ID or reserved name, or the redirection will be ignored! |
| |

|
Why do reserved name links cost more? |
| |
| |
|
While the standard links are assigned a unique number for identification, a Reserved Name is the unique identifier. Since only the member who owns a reserved name may use it, we must reserve and manage this usage and protect your reserved name from being used by another member. We are also exposed to legal issues for reserved names that do not exist with standard links. These issues are related to Trademarks and Copyrights.
Our policy is very clear on this issue. We require that you agree to our policies when you purchase a reserved name. Basically, our policy states that the member who purchases a reserved name is responsible for obtaining any clearances, licenses or permissions from the rightful owner before they reserve the name. The Trademark or Copyright owner will retain all rights. The disputed reserved name link will be placed on hold until such time as the dispute has been settled. If the member wins the dispute, the reserved name link will be reactivated. If the member loses the dispute, then the reserved name remains with the rightful owner.
Note that you may have been granted the right to advertise or promote a product by your affiliate, but you may still be restricted from using a Trademarked name. |

How will I know when to renew my membership and my reserved links? |
| |
| |
|
You may log into the GoToProduct.com website anytime, and view or change your membership information. Your renewal date is part of this information.
Reserved Name Links each have their own renewal date. These can be renewed in the Control Panel at any time. You have a 30 day grace period to renew Reserved Name links. If you fail to renew by the end of the grace period, you may lose your reservation for that name. If you do not renew your membership before the anniversary date, all of your links will be put on hold. This means no forwarding or tracking will be done until your renewal is made.
We will send you an Email several weeks before any renewal is required. The email will contain a link for you to click on to renew immediately or you can go to the website and renew there after you have logged in. |

How do I use the Tracking Code in my GoToPrduct links? |
| |
| |
|
The Tracking Code is used as follows:
GoToProduct.info?id=shoes&tc=NikeThe &tc= identifies the tracking code. NOTE: You are not limited to using tc to identify the tracking code. In fact you can use almost anything like location or version or style. Whatever you use, it must be after the &. |
| |
| 14 |
|
Can I use
GoToProduct.com?id=11111
instead of
GoToProduct.info?id=11111? |
| |
| |
|
No. Our forwarding and tracking site is the info domain. This also looks better and provides a better inference for the user.
You may also use ClickFor.info instead of GoToProduct.info if you wish. |
| |
| 15 |
|
How can the Tracking and Reporting help me verify that I am receiving all of the commissions I am due from the affiliate manager? |
| |
| |
|
We have no way of knowing what commissions you are receiving from your affiliate managers. But you can compare the number of clicks we have recorded with the number of clicks your affiliate manager is reporting. If their number is less than ours, you have reason to be concerned. These numbers should be very close if you are using GoToProduct links exclusively. It is hard to compare numbers from two sites at the same time. All our counts are real time counts. Many affiliate managers do batch updates and may not include the most recent activity. |

Why do you use PayPal for your cash and credit transactions? |
| |
| |
|
We believe PayPal to be secure and reliable.
PayPal provides a lot of flexibility in making payments. The user can pay with PayPal funds, credit cards or e-checks and the processing is fast.
With PayPal there are no long term commitments or large deposits required and the transaction fees are comparable to many merchant accounts.
If you would like to use PayPal for your own payment processing, click on the banner below. It only takes a few minutes to sign up and you could be using PayPal in a few days. It only takes a few days because there is a verification required from your bank.

|
Are you an affiliate of other companies? |
| |
| |
|
Yes we are. And yes we use GoToProduct.info links for all our own affiliate links.
We decided to build this site and service because we did not like the looks of all those confusing affiliate links and we did not want to buy and manage a batch of domain names. |
| |
| 18 |
|
In the Control Panel I selected the
Add, Update or Delete Links (Redirects)
and I do not know how to enter my link? |
| |
| |
|
Click the button.
Fill in a campaign name for this link. This can be anything you like, up to 15 characters. This should be related to the affiliate or product in some way.
Select Standard Link if you just want us to assign a numeric ID for this link, or click Reserved Name and enter your own reserved name for this link. If another member has already reserved the same name, you must select a new name.
Enter a Tracking code if you want. You may want to use the same affiliate link on Google Adwords and also in your email newsletter. You want to be able to track which links came from each source. The Tracking Code for one could be "Google" and the code for the other could be "email". In your Tracking Reports you would get clicks reported on both links (each with a unique Tracking Code).
|
| |
| 19 |
|
Is there a limit on the number of links I can use? |
| |
| |
|
No. You may have as many links as you want. Standard links are free. Reserved Name Links are $5 each per year.
|
| |
| 20 |
|
I made a mistake when I entered a link. Is there any way to correct the mistake? |
| |
| |
|
Yes, in the control panel, choose the
Add, Update or Delete Links (Redirects)
link. This will display all of your current links. In the first column you will see the word Edit next to each link. Click on the Edit word next to the one you wish to correct. You will then be able to make your changes.
You can not change a reserved name. You must add a new link with the reserved name you want. If you misspelled your name, contact Customer Support and ask them if they can make the correction for you. They will make the change as long as the new spelling is not already in use. |

|
One of my links redirects to the correct site, but the site appears in a frame on the current site. How do I fix this problem? |
| |
| |
|
You have inserted a GoToProduct.info?id=xxxxxxx into an existing frame. At the end of your link, add a space and target="_blank" or target="_new".
This will cause the redirection to open in a new window. Often, this may be what you want to do. If the link is on your own site, do you want to leave your site for the affiliate site, or do you want the user to see your site again when they close the affiliate site window? |
| |
| 22 |
|
Do you have an affilate program for this website and service? |
| |
| |
|
Yes!
Click this link for affiliate program.
|
| |
| 23 |
|
Can I delete one of my links? |
| |
| |
|
Standard links can be deleted by members using the Edit option on the link control panel. If you just want your link to become inactive, go to the control panel and click on the
Add, Update or Delete Links (Redirects)
option and edit the link. Change the startdate to sometime in the future. This will cause your link to be inactive until the date selected.
Reserved name links can not be deleted. These links are active for a full year. If the owner of a reserved link does not renew the link, the system will automatically delete the link after the grace period. |
| |
| 24 |
|
Can I sign up for more than one membership? |
| |
| |
|
Yes, but you must pay separately for each membership. You will not be able to share anything between the two memberships. |
| |
| 25 |
|
Are reserved names case sensitive? |
| |
| |
|
No. All reserved names are reserved regardless of the case of the letters. |
| |
| 26 |
|
Are plurals of reserved words reserved at the same time? |
| |
| |
|
No. We only reserve the name you enter. If another member spells the name differently by making it plural, they can reserve it. If you want to protect your reserved name and the plural of the name, you should reserve both. |
| |
| 27 |
|
What do I do if my payment is not accepted? |
| |
| |
|
It depends upon what you were paying for.
First, you will have to use a different credit card, payment method or make a correction.
If you were signing up to become a new member, you will click on the Sign Up button from the Home Page, and fill out the form again. Then make your payment.
If you were paying for a renewal of your membership, reserved name link, simply repeat the same process again from the control panel or the current links page.
If you were setting up a new link, return to the links page via the Control Panel. Your new link has been saved. The status for the link will be a Buy Now link. Click on this link to make your payment. When the payment clears, the status will be changed to Active. You will only be given one day to complete your purchase. This is to prevent reservations of names without payment just to keep others from using the name. |

Will the Second Chance option work with Google Adwords? |
| |
| |
|
Google has a strict policy that you can not link to any site that uses a popup. If they find that you are using this option, they will disable your ad. If this happens, just remove the second chance option from the link that you are using for Google. You could use 2 links, one without the Second Chance option that you use for Google and any other ad site that restricts popups, and another for the rest of the sites. |
| |
| 31 |
|
Will the Second Chance popunder get blocked by any popup blockers? |
| |
| |
|
It depends on the blocker. We have no control over the popup blockers, so you could be blocked. However, you will still get the benefits for all those who do not use a blocker. This is well worth the effort! |
| |
| 32 |
|
What is the Generate button on the Links screen for? |
| |
| |
|
When you click this button, you can have GoToProduct automatically generate your new links for you. This is how you customize your links. You can control the redirection site:
GoToProduct.info
ClickFor.info
You can also select the link parameter names to be used.
There are three different types of links you can generate:
Simple Links
Text Links - appear as a message with you link hidden
Banner or Image Link
With the last type you have an image instead of a text link. |
| |
| 33 |
|
What is the Test button for on the Generate Link screen? |
| |
| |
|
Click this button to test your link. When you click this button you will be taken to a new screen that will display the generated link code and the actual link. You can click on the actual link and you should be taken to the destination site (affiliate) that you have defined for the link. If you do not arrive at the site, you know that there is an error in your link setup. You can use this facility to experiment with different code changes if you know HTML. Before each test, move your cursor to the "code" box, select all text, and copy to your clipboard. This way you will have a copy of the code that worked that you can then save or paste into your website. |

|
Why is there an alternate login procedure on the Home page? i.e. "extra secure login" |
| |
| |
|
The standard login on the home page is an encrypted login and does not expose your email address or password when transmitted to our server. The extra secure login option takes you to our SSL login page which provides encryption of all information on the site while you are logged in. This security is provided by our secure certificate and provides up to 256 bit encryption of all data, twice the industry standard. If you want the maximum security, use the secure login option. While you will have the utmost in protection, operation of the site will be much slower since everthing must be encrptyed and decrypted for processing. |
